To manage crowds and preserve the ancient heritage, the local Varanasi administration enforces strict traffic rules near the central ghats:
- Godowlia Crossing to Dashashwamedh Ghat is a strict No-Vehicle Zone between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Four-wheelers are not permitted to enter during these hours.
- Bikes and scooters are allowed in the outer alleyways but cannot be ridden directly onto the ghat concrete plazas.
